Thales Navigation, a provider of Magellan GPS navigation products, has just released a new GPS navigation system it calls RoadMate 360. It includes pre-loaded maps for the continental U.S., Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico. It comes with a 3.5-inch high resolution daylight visible TFT color touch screen which shows the driver's progress on a moving map and offers text directions and visual prompts. It also features clearly audible turn-by-turn voice prompts. The touch screen and a backlit keypad gives drivers direct access to menu options. Features include multiple destination routing. You can create and store up to 20 trips with up to 20 destinations each. In addition, the driver can  choose to see point of interest icons along the route on the map screen including restaurants, gas stations, and more than 30 other categories. The driver can get the route to a point of interest location by simply touching the appropriate icon on the screen. The system also allows you to record travel paths and retrieve trip data. This feature permits you to playback recorded or use the system's trip computer to track mileage, travel time and other useful trip stats. Drivers can select destinations by intersection, street address, previous destination, any point on the map screen or a point of interest from a built-in database of nearly two million restaurants, hotels, bank ATMs, tourist attractions and more. You can also create a route using the built in address book which stores hundreds of personal addresses. And it automatically re-calculates the route if the driver misses a turn.
