Hi everyone, I'm having some trouble with my sunfire, was hoping for some input.
For one, the check engine light is always either on steady or flashing (generally it flashes while accelerating up hills). In addition, the engine obviously runs rougher than it used to, particularly at idle. Gas mileage has gone down noticably (maybe 3/4 of what it used to be?). This all leads me to believe that the engine is misfiring somehow. The problems with gas mileage and the chugging generally aren't as noticeable when I'm driving consistently above 60 mph. It did this to me before, and I had it taken to a mechanic, who told me "chamber x was misfiring due to faulty spark plug" and he replaced my plugs - $162. Solved the problem for maybe 500 miles, then it was right back. Maybe the plugs he put in just were duds? (I know they were cheap ones). Maybe something is continually fouling my plugs? No leaks of any kind that I can notice. Is it because of a fuel filter? Most importantly, how could I possibly tell?
Thanks a lot for any input on this!

Need to have the computer read to see what the fault codes are for a better diagnosis.
