I have a 96 chev truck with 305 CI with 228,000 miles on it. Check engine light comes on and says catalyst below threshold efficiency bank 1. It has 4 O2 sensors on it and 1 catalytic converter. I cant pin it down to 02 sensors or converter. I have a scan tool and clear trouble codes and runs fine for a couple of days to a week, then light comes back on. Any thoughts on this???

Would you prefer thoughts or the fix? My thoughts are with the miles on the truck if you don't live in a state that has emission testing, put a picture over the light and ride...or you can fix it. How you do you do that? You could have a bad cat. with the miles on the clock. You said you had a scan tool if it a good one you can read the O2 sensors. It's not easy to nail down a cat code. Your model eats up converters I have replaced many. If you have 4 O2 sensors you should have 3 converters. Good luck

Sorry, you should have two converters not three.
