If you bought the rx-8 and dont know much about cars you got the wrong car I have 2 rx-8's one j-spec one american. I have 31,000 miles on the american one and it hasnt stalled or stumbled once. Rotary engines for those of you who dont know are meant to be run hard dont be afraid to rev them up its clears out the engine. Also buying an exhaust can help. But as far as flooding the rx8 is supposed to be revved at 4000 rpm for 2 minutes prior to shut down this will solve the no start due to flooding

its not mazdas fault that people are to ignorant to learn how to drive a rotary engine car... i.e. dont let the revs drop below 3500 when driving

keep the revs above 3500 when driving if not you can cause damage to the engine that will cause it to stall and not start

im having a hell of a time with my 2004 rx8 - it's automatic and just quits on me when im stopped at a red light - however, it'll start about 10 - 15 minutes later - i have taken it to mazda every month almost because of ratlling noises etc, and they say that there's nothing wrong with my car. Im sure they're taking me for a 'ride' or waiting till my warranty runs out. What should I do as calling Mazda canada has gotten me NOwhere - any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi I have a 2004 RX 8 that had an engine replacement Sept 07.The car has less than 35k miles and is currently owned by my son who is stationed overseas (USAF). The car is in utah and we are getting reports of gas leakage. Has anyone had this issue following an engine replacement? Mazda in Utah is stating that the warranty has expired -Mazda North America states the warranty has been extended on the powertrain and the replacemnt engine is less than 1 year. thanks, Kj Silva

Hey Bro I just got my RX8 to run....I have a 2004 stickshift....what took me 1hr may take you over 4 hrs...but, its worth it.....you have to get mystery oil from autozone or wherever...next take out all the spark plugs, because the gas that went into them caused the car to flood...now you must get them one by one and check to see if there still good if they look good then follow this next step if they look bad get more....so if there still good then you get starting fluid and spray the tip that looks burnt of course...then ignite them after spraying them, that will get all the gas out, spray each 2 times maybe three that will get ALL the excess gas out.....next you put them all back in....do them one by one....next you get in the driver seat and try turning it on with the gas pressed down for 10 secs...then turn it off....then try turn the engine on without the gas for about another 10 secs....repeat until the car starts....GOODLUCK

I recently moved to Las Vegas from Florida and have a 2005 RX8 with the same problems. They are telling me they may want to replace my engine also, but I say NO WAY!!! I have 22000 miles on my car and it is insane that an engine should be replaced at that mileage, especially with a rebuilt product. I have just begun to read all of the consumer complaints on line from people with the same problems. I was going to start looking for a lemon law lawyer to start a case, but if you could give me the name of your lawyer, I would appreciate it greatly. Also, I think your case was a while back, so if you could let me know the outcome, I would be very interested. Thanks for sharing your info! Lotyda

the reason ur car is flooding is because before shutting it off you have to rev the engine higher than 3500 rpm for about 3 seconds, try that then tell me if your still having that problem

Hey i have a RX 8 and to all you people that are having probs. with losing power, etc. when you start the car you need to let the car run for a while do to the "Rotary Engine"... So dont just start it and turn it off... let it run for about two min. before turning off. Hope this helps?!

To prevent flooding, before you shut the car off rev it to 4000 to 5000 rpm then turn the key to the off position. If the car don't start and you tried the trouble shooting method for flooded engine and it still don't start! Try doing this pop the hood open, to your right next to the air filter is the fuse box there are two blue fuses look for the one thats for the fuel injectors take that one out. now crank the engine 2 or 3 times this should flush out the fuel, put the fuse back, now try to start the car.(this has worked for me when i had this problem).
