Marc7,
I posted my concerns 07/05/05. View my posting re: RX8 engine problems. I own a 2004 RX 8 and am having an engine replaced.  What type of action are you considering? The dealership here in NV has half a dozen RX 8's that he is currently replacing engines on.

I've recently had to replace my RX 8 engine with only 14,000 miles on it. I would definately be interested in hearing others problems or discussing whatever action you're looking into.

Hey guys the dealership r telling that its a bad sparkplug and that they have to clean the engine out because its flooded. The car sat for 2 days without being started. When it failed it was running and then stalled and now wont start. The warning lights came on that had to do with the power steering  etc.

what you think guys what should I do

I have sued Mazda and the dealer.  I decided not to wait to put together a class action.

Mine has been into the dealership twice in the last 6 weeks for the same problem. The last time it was in was after the car hadn't been started in a couple of days. They've told me the same thing both times. The car was flooded, they were unsure of what caused it, but they replaced the plugs, starter, battery, and re-flashed the ecm. My car has a little over 29k miles on it, and I'm starting to get concerned becuase the warrenty runs out soon. Is this an ongoing problem?

Did you get your engine replaced?
I have had a new replacement last fall.  Today I am getting a new computer.  Mazda is paying.

i haven't had my engine replaced, it's not even been an option as far as i know. this has only happened twice since i've had the car. but the ecu has been re-flashed almost everytime i've taken it in, maybe this is why it's only flooded 2x?

I Love my Mazda RX8, and I HATE my RX8.
I have a 2004 RX8 and had to have my engine replaced at 10,000 miles.
I live in Las Vegas, when it is hot, I have such power loss that I would to have to pull off of the highway.
In February 2006, I hired a consumers rights lawyer, and after a few months of stammering, they have agreed to BUY BACK my Mazda RX8 at full purchase price, plus any transfer fees and all lawyers fees.
The squeaky wheels get the grease!!!!

that really sucks that such a great engine design, in theory, can't be perfected.   i didnt realize that these cars had such a major issue.

I had read flooding is a common prob for rotary engines.
