I am in the market for a new car (likely a 3-year lease). I currently drive a 1990 Toyota Camry, and its time to get something new. I am comparing between the 05 Toyota Corolla LE, Sedan, automatic and the 05 Honda Accord LE/EX, Sedan, automatic. Why? Because, I prefer the Accord to the Camry, and am still undecided whether to get the compact or the midsize. I prefer the safety and performance features of the Accord/midsize, but like the price of the Corolla/compact. The bulk of my commute is on the train each day, so I really don't drive the car much during the week. Any comments, thoughts, suggestions, experience with these cars would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Both are good, reliable cars.  Obviously get a larger car with more options and power with the Accord and you pay accordingly more.  So I think you just need to ask yourself, is the Accord worth more to you?  If it is, buy it.  If it isn't, save your money and get the Corolla.

I would take a look at the resale values of both cars and consider purchaing  a 1 year old certified pre owned Camry of Accord. Since you will be placing little mileage on the car I would look very hard at whether the Camry or the Acord at low mileage has a better resale value and to not take a large hit in terms of  value by purchasing brand new  I would buy the certified preowned which gives you the benefit of buying a relatively new car with the warranty and dealer service that pre owned Hondas and Toyota programs give which is strong in compared to other preowned programs. So think of it this way, you buy a one year old honda or toyota, then you dont put much miles on it for a few years and then you sell it for not too much less than you paid. So lets say the total cost to own and operate over that time is $6000 over the 3 years that would be less than buying either car new as you likely lose $2000-3000 when you drive it off the lot - or a lease where you might spend $300-400 per month plus tax on the car for a total of payments of 3 years of $9000-12000 and you have own nothing to sell or tradein and you might get hurt when you turn in the car based on damage etc but you wont likely be over on miles just a couple thoughts!!
