I have 2002 Mercury Mountaineer. The mileage as of today is 93077. The car is doing real great. I service it on time and it;s well maintained. But the mileage rise is a concern. I am thinking of trading it for a less mileage one before it gets to 100,00. Cna you give me a piece of advice?
Yeah!

That is pretty high mileage for a 2002! You are averaging 30,000 miles a year. I only average about 10,000! If you try to get rid of it now, you'll be looking at: - roughly $11,000 trade-in value - roughly $13,500 retail value

I personally own a 2002 Limited Explorer and love it. The gas milage tends to hurt a bit but the comfort pays off. If you have the V-8 model, that is the identical motor used in the GT Mustang. Those motors are really built to last a long time. The last explorer my grandma owned lasted 260,000 miles before any major repair was needed.
So if you like your car enjoy it. You may be a car with lower milage but you will never know how its been treated and maintained.
If you like the car and enjoy driving it, milage is nothing, maintance is everything. That car could last for a long time.

Ford doesn't equip its cars with time bombs that go off at six digits. Don't sell it until it's time. Since most of those were obviously highway miles, you haven't put as much stress on it as you think. Plus there's the young age factor.

You state the car is doing great..... You did not say if you bought this vehicle new..... If you did, and you have well maintained it..... I am with the last post. You know what you have. Keep it ! A vehicle well maintained should last you at least, but not limited to 200,000 miles + . A car with lower miles, may not have been well cared for , and your only way to ensure a better deal then what you have is to buy NEW. You can fo to kelly blue book or NADA on the net and put in your auto info to get the exact on what your trade in value or resale value would be for your vehicle, it is alao based on your zip code as a car here may be worth less or more in another city elsewhere. Good Luck
