Mazda Tribute engine problem

I have a 2001 Mazda Tribute and in Dec 04, it started shutting down while driving.  Normally it happened in the morning when starting out, on the way down the street the little red key on the dash comes on and engine goes off.  It normally would reset after turning off the key and waiting about 15-30 seconds.  The Mazda dealer in Landstuhl Germany has worked on it and all that he can do is clear a U-1262 code.  His manuels have no explanation of what it is and neither does Mazda Europe.  Lately, after shutting it down in a BX or Commissary parking lot, going to start up and move on, it will cough and die.  No engine turn, nothing, just blinking red key on the dash.  Last night...about 2 hours later...it started.  Any Help would be Appreciated.

There is a recall regarding this specific issue.  Look at this link:  http://autorepair.about.com/library/recalls/bl-recalls-045c.htm

I am actually researching these problems for my fiance, who owns a 2003 Tribute LX.  She has never gotten any recall notices from Mazda, and it seems like many other people don't either.  Is this really the case??

Also, if anyone has any input about the other recalls, specifically the problem with the throttle staying wide open (which happened to my fiance, hence the research being done...), PLEASE SHARE.  It was supposedly fixed, but the throttle has gone back to feeling like it did before it went haywire.

We would like Mazda to do one of two things:
1) Give us a completely different Tribute without extending our lease (so we can get out of it as soon as we can.  I can't believe anyone would be satisfied with this vehicle, even if they weren't almost killed in it.)
OR
2) Let her out of the lease immediately, with no strings attached.

Has anyone taken it this far and been successul?  Any input would be GREATLY appreciated.
