Well, I wrote in my Mustang review: "With the Camaro and Firebird gone, who does this revitalized pony car have left to beat up on? Common folk point to the Pontiac GTO, but $33,690 for a manual model puts that car $8,050 above a Mustang GT. Furthermore, the GTO is a German-Australian mutant offspring of a Cadillac Catera, a car that had different things in mind besides battling Mustangs. Ford-versus-GM fun aside, this comparison seems forced."

I love the charger, I think it could stand to lose a couple doors though.

Mustang. Even a wrecked mustang is still better than the other choices.

the new GTOs are boring i think. They look just like a grand am. From what ive read on edmunds they have way more hp than the rest of the car can handle. If you get a GTO expect to slide all over the place and lose control when you're gunning it. The mustang GT's have a neat new look and they are very powerful. They are a tad slower than the GTOs but we are talking 3 tenths of a second slower. You wont be able to notice a difference.

I love the looks of the retro Mustang but when it comes to performance and handeling the 2006 GTO is tops with 400 HP. 2005 GTO was 350HP.

I am seeing the little pontiac GTO being put in the same spot as the car everyone practically ignored or new little about back in the mid to late 60's and now it's become one of the most popular vehicles on the street today and that's the 66 Nova SS with the L-79 (327 / 350hp) corvette motor, Muncie M-22 (very few came through with this 4 speed tranny), and 12 bolt posi rear end. In 66 they didn't sell to many because most didn't like the styling--too boxy and like today as back then they were waiting for debut of the 67 camaro which GM was already announcing the car way back in 66 somewhat like they are doing now and it was Chevy's answer to Ford mustange much like today. But in actually the 66 nova SS with L-79 motor had a faster quarter mile time than it's big block predessor the 396 / 427 camaro SS which were flying through the lights in the high 13's and 14 second in the quarter....The 66 Nova SS with L-79 had the fastest quarter mile time of 13.113 sec.s @ 109 mph or so. The car today lends itself to many modifications and yearone actually sells the body.....Something tells me that the 04 thru 06 GTO's are about to become like the Nova.....I have many videos of the 6.0 litre GTO hitting the hi 12 mark in the quarter mile at Baytown raceway right outside of Houston,Texas.......I'm looking at the GTO like the 66 nova SS....Mis read
