Before I start, I want to say it's nice to meet all of you here. I look forward to shooting the *** with you but if you have any problems with my opinions, then please complain to the wall because that'll have more interest than ***
Well, I've been one of those guys who enjoy buying a car and leaving the body the way it came out of the factory....plain and simple! Over the past few years I've owned cars that I was content driving in simply for the fact of having transportation. I had a Nissan NX2000 and it was my baby because that thing was a great summer car especially with the T-Tops which all my girlfriends loved.
I pull up to the 7-11 to grab some munchies with some buds and I bump into one of my really good aquiantances. He's a Domestic Muscle car fanatic that drives a 1987 Chev Camaro Iroc-Z. Nice beast that does it's job. We give each other props and whatever then he points his finger at my modest ride and starts laughing out loud. He simply points his finger at my car and starts yelling out 'what a *** joke of a car! Rice-burner! Japcrap! Bwhahaha! I just smoked an Integra Type-R, Maxima, Civic, Altima, and Corolla tonight!'I just looked at him with confusion and simply replied 'Look, buddy I'm driving this car just as a passion and a means to get around in this suburbanhood. By the way those cars were stock and they are only 4 or 6 bangers. Be as cocky as you like but this is why I love American Muscle cars and get pissed off by SOME of the drivers.' Many older ones are more humble in a sense. To make things funny was a 1996 Toyota Supra parked next to him and he just looked with awe at it. I laughed right back at him and said 'why are looking with awe at that? Weren't you just bashing Japanese cars a moment ago?' He quickly replied 'Well....I respect THIS car and a few others because they are Japanese muscle cars.'
You get some polite American muscle car drivers in one hand who you can easily have a long conversation with even if they are total strangers, and cocky little dicks who think they are king-shit on the other hand.
2 weeks later I pull up to a parking lot with the 'Rice Club' in attendance and they look at my car and wonder why I didn't put a stinking fart-cannon and a stupid wing on it. One dude who knew me offered me a wide tip for my muffler and I politely declined until I finally placed it on my car after giving in. I leave moments later only to take that stupid tip off my muffler and dispose of it in the nearest trash can in sight. No more bumblebees in a can for me! It only lasted 5 minutes. You can get those little exhaust tips from Wal-Mart for like 50 bucks. I think I'd rather buy a supply of macaroni and cheese instead only difference is, the cheese is on my pasta and not on my friggin' car!
Doesn't matter if you drive an American or Japanese 4-cylinder. If you dress the econobox up like a picasso or like something you put in the circus for the freakshow, then you deserve to get mocked. I almost pissed my pants looking at a Chev Malibu that was riced out so riduclously bad! I've seen Civics that made me almost cry with laughter! Listen, if you are going to rice out a car, do all of us a favour and do it right because I've seen some decent looking Sunfires and Proteges that had the punch to go with the body mods. If you have a fart-cannon and a skirt package with fancy little lights and it goes slow as sin, then spare us the laughter and keep it in the garage.
I know this is a long post, but please forgive me.

Long post, some good points. People just identify with thier cars too much. This has always been the case since automobiles have been around. Talking *** just gets some people off, I don't know. Makes them feel more secure about themselves and thier cars.

Bingo. People who put down other cars are only doing so to make them feel better about their own piece of junk. I hear dummies all the time ragging on some one else's ride because they have a fart cannon, body kit and neons but no performance mods. They're just too stupid to realize that everyone has different taste in how to mod, or not mod their car. Losers.

you guys couldnt have put it better. insecurity always brings that sort of behavior out, crap talking, etc. just be mellow. everyone has different tastes and different uses for cars. if you drive a car that makes you happy, great. its all relative to where you are. if it makes you cool to have a fart can and neons where you live, thats fine. if its only cool to have a big block muscle car and drag all the time, go right ahead. if you need an expensive european car to cruise around and pick up chicks, right on. just dont bash someone for not thinking the same way as you.

I find its people who really dont know much about cars that trash talk on other cars for stupid reasons, there is always something to marvel at in most cars.

isn't doing it right relative for each person?? Are you not bashing on them here? just wondering.
btw where are you out of? favour vs. favor. :-)
all i can say is, and i think you'd agree with me, respect other's choices and rides cuz we know what it feels like to be on the other side.
