2000 Dodge Caravan starting problems

I am having a recurring problem that the dealer can't seem to figure out. Van has problems starting where the starter will crank for several seconds before engine fires. Once it does it acts like it is  flooded and is sluggish to idle normal.  First they relaced starter thinking it was that or related sensors that are part of it. Next was fuel pump check and ended up replacing fuel filter. Still no good. The spark plugs are battery are new. The ignition/starter has been checked - nothing will return any error code to system computer. They are basically clueless without some kind of error code to go on.  Has anyone else had this problem with 3.3L caravan 2000 dodge van?
Any suggestions, as the frequency of hard starts is getting worse - once its running it runs fine.  Thanks -Bob

Bob,
Just curious if you have had any luck in getting answers for this?  I own a 2000 Dodge Caravan that has had the same problem for some time(82,000 miles).  Recently, we had an error code and found out that we had some valve problems.  We assumed this had been the reason for the way it was running.  We had the valve problem fixed but the van still runs the same way that you have described.  Thanks for any feedback you might have.-Tony

Bob:
Notice you have not posted for years.  On off chance you get this.....what was the final cause of your trouble?  I am having the exact same symptoms with my 2003 Dodge Caravan.
Thanks! Bill

you did not mention what engine you have...  but ... i would pull the fuel pressure regulator vacuum connection and see if gasoline comes out the vacuum connection.. that would indicate the pressure regulator diaphram is blown...

This would be a good thing to check. I had the same trouble with a 99 Ford Wind Star turned out I had a hole in the vacuum line to the fuel regulator.
