Forgive me for I know nothing about cars, but a friend and I are having a debate over which car would be faster.  Can anyone help by looking at these specs?

CAR #1: 250 HP / 258 lbs of torque @ 2000 (3.0L)

CAR #2: 250 HP / 225 lbs of torque @ 2000 (3.2L)

CAR #3: 160 HP / 155 lbs of torque @ 4000 (2.3L)

Thanks so much for the help on this!

are they specs for the same car with different motors, or different cars altogether.  power to weight ratio is an important factor.

As is gearing, aerodynamics, transmission type, etc.  This looks to me to be another one of those little boy questions that is essentially unanswerable with the information provided.

I apologize for what may seem like a very dumb question to pretty much everyone here, but like I said, I no nothing about cars and what all these numbers mean.  If it helps at all, these are the cars...

Car 1 is a 2006 Saab Aero
Car 2 is a 2002 Porsche Boxster S
Car 3 is a 2006 Mazda6

If you know what cars you're talking about, instead of asking the question, why not simply take a look at some road tests.  Preferably from the same source.  Simple.

By faster I am going to as-sume you mean fastest accelerating. If that is the case, then the Boxster S is a good 400lbs lighter than the Saab(according to Raod & Track) so it will be significantly faster in a straight line. The Boxster will kill the Saab in handling, and I would think would have a higher top end also.

as for the base mazda 6, it doesnt compare to the other 2.  unless you compare the mazdaspeed 6 (turbo charged awd) then it might be up there.
