After a flushing of my cooling system,I took my car to miami,I'm actually living in Orlando.Half way, while I was doing 100mph the engine went off.Next thing I knew my cylinder head was cracked.I bought a aftermarket one, and I replaced it.The car is running nice and smooth. But I'm still having a overheating problem. On my A/C controler panel I have to put the selector on hot(red part) and have my blower runing all the time in order for the engine not to get overheated.I don't know where in the system is the faillure. Please if u guys I've seen this before, tell me what could be the problem. 99 KIA SEPHIA

Have you tried replacing the Thermostat? Is it losing any coolant?

Yes, I have seen this before, too many times. You, like so many others before you have simply repaired the symptom (cracked head) without addressing the root cause. It could be as simple as a faulty thermostat or something else such as the water pump, incorrect head gasket, restricted radiator or even potentially (very slight) an engine management problem. Depending on where you got this "aftermarket" cylinder head from, it could also be a contributing factor.
Why did you flush the cooling system before your trip, how did you flush the cooling system before your trip, how did you ensure that the cooling system was properly bled and serviced after the flush? There is a long list of questions to be asked as part of determining the cause.
Side note: No matter what you claim, I seriously doubt you were traveling at 100 mph in your Sephia. Nice try though.

I thought that was a space where people would be sharing real knowledge, but not making fun of others.my car didn't have any problem before the flushing.I wasn't guessing and decided to change the head.I had decicded to service my car before I would take it to long trip and the flushing was a part of the servicing. I've actually used a flushing machine for I was going to UTI at that time.and it was one of the latests. As you know things happend on my way the engine got overheated. It might be because I didn't bleed the system properly and completely. Most of the time after a flushing you need to keep this car on track for couple days to make sure the system was completely bleeded, the engine keeps its operating temperature.I didn't have a choice I had to go to a funeral.
side note:You sound like u've have never driven a KIA. u better try, u'll be suprised.even with my overheating problem i'm still beating *** a combination of of a good drive and a car in good shape. It's not about brand..... cool. It's not a racing car that i know but ......u don't wanna mess with me on the road.

You're right. You caught me. I've never driven a Kia. That is except when I'm repairing warranty work done by the local Kia stealership, which is often.
BTW, if you would lose you victim mentallity for just a minute and re-read my post, you'd see that I DID share some real knowledge. But then that wouldn't fit into your life plan, would it?

so the car had no overheating problems, you changed the coolant using a coolant flush machine, you had to be at a funeral, your car overheated, possibly because of air in the system (since you had no overheating problems) You diagnosed the damage and found you had a cracked, warped head and then proceeded to replace the head, now it continues to over heat. Is this the correct sequence of events?

U got it right. And the strange part, its the way I'm dealing with the problem.Just by keeping my blower running and the A/C on hot.
side note: Do me a favor stop stripping on the car that i love.I like that " stealership"......cool.

Turning on the heat and running the blower to help keep anoverheating car cool is no strange or new concept. The heater core is nothing more than a radiator inside the passenger compartment. Because doing that keeps it cool, that's an indication that the water pump and engine coolant passages are probably okay. What that doesn't do is test the thermostat or radiator in any way. It's sounding more and more as though in the process of flushing the system, you fiiled the radiator with thrash.
I have a question for you that has been bothering me but haven't asked it. If you've attended UTI, apparently for the automotive course, why can't you isolate what is most likely a simple problem on your own. Something doesn't add up.

You might want to try a few things. First with the car running turn on your ac and see if the cooling fans start up. If the do not then it may be a relay. Also check your electrical thermostat. Pull the plug and jump it over and see if the cooling fans come on.

I've cleaned my radiator, checked my hoses, the bypass, and changed the thermostat two times since.Everything seems to be OK.The only thing I haven't checked yet, is the heater core. Why because is too much work.I'd rather buy another body than replacing a heater core.Hopefully it is not the problem.I also decided to put on it an engine that came from a 2001 with 37k on it.But before I do all that I wanted to solve this strange problem. And, one other thing, I had an electrical problem some where in my fuse box. I had to put my cooling fan on the "ON" line(the one that is hot only when the key is on "ON" position)so my cooling fan is turning all the time. But this i can fixe it it's matter of time. And thank you guys for your sharing so far.
side note: Everybody needs a second thought.Specially when u've tried everything, and it's still not happening for you.
