I just hope they improve the quality. The quality on my '00 GTI was dismal.

The reliability of the first few years of the MK4s were hit or miss at best. By 02, 03 they had got most of the bugs worked out. The MK5s seem to be substantially better in the first few years of production. Being a big VW fan this isn't nearly as important to me as the fact they have ruined the looks of the car and it is just too big. My favorite VW, and I have owned several, is still the MK2. It was the right size, weight and complexity. There aren't many cars out there that are as fun to drive a well prepared MK2 GTI. The MINI would be on the list, and I have been told a Mazda 3 with some decent shocks and tires is pretty close too.

I dont like that at all. Its edging on the streamlined mini van style all the other cars today are doing. I'll keep my 97 thank you. Of course until I grab an R32 that is.
