Aloha everyone.
I currently own a '01 Silverado Extra cab 4x2 with a 4.8L engine.  It's in excellent shape with only 56,000 miles on it. I get about 15-17 mpg but I am thinking about getting a diesel truck. I am leaning toward the Chevy Duramax diesel. Anyone have any suggestions?.

Hello sir--its really all in your personall like and dislikes--I love Ford..and im not going to try brag how good Ford--Ill tell you the facts
Fords generally dont ride great but make up for it with good inside work and lots and lots of options on truck models[you can get a 150 in like 5 differnt stlyes] and ford parts are easily found. I now will move on. Im not very knowledge about chevy though so I will skip to dodge. Dodge trucks are genrally good sound trucks, but lack Ford or Chevy refinement. Dodge Trucks also are not great on inside work, but making up for this is a great ride quality. Dodges are pretty reliable on average. But nethier dodge or chevy has the amount of varity that ford has. I know you said you were leaning towords a durmax, which i guess means a 2500 0r 3500 modal so ill this finaly thought--its all up to the consumer--thank you for your time

After all the problems I had with my 98 k1500, I would never buy another chevy truck again. They failed to honor the warranties.

4 fuel pumps
3 pinion bearings
4 axle bearings
1 intake gasket
2 water pumps
1 radiator
6 tie-rods
2 front axle bearings
10 tailgate cables

I describe my driving as light duty, highway miles.
