Immediately after my alternator was replaced all of lights come on in my dash board (brake, battery etc.) The car then began to shut off as I was driving with no warning except all the lights coming on. The car always start right back up with no problem. The car shuts off while driving at random maybe every other month. I took my car to a repair shop and now it won't start at all. The mechanic has suggested replacing the crank sensor (he has had the car for weeks). What do you think?

if all this started after the car was worked on, I would bet it has to do with whatever your mechanic touched.

I have similar problem in my Nissan Maxima 1997GLE,but my son is a technician in Mercedes dealer ship so he found and replace the battery, alternator, baterry main wire, then its o.k other wise she stop any where during driving and all light is off like in your car. But now its light is on(service soon}I check there is a code:P1447 & P1400(my son told me I already done it}but P1447 is for emission gas is leaking from some where. http://forums.automotive.com/_siteconfigs/_global/images/community/bbcode/confused.gif

your son is correct in saying that it is a fuel tank vapor control problem... one of the purge control valves is not operating as expected... i looked this up in a quest manual i have.. its 7 pages of trouble shooting that require an advanced scan tool to talk to the nissan computer and to monitor the various valves and sensors..
this is an old thread.. if you want more detailed info.. i will be glad to try to narrow it down.. but its STILL GOING TO NEED AN advanced scan tool and the proper pages of the factory service manual.. or the electronic pages from alldatadiy.com or eautorepair.net
