I have an 04 Jeep Grand Cherokee and I too have window issues, I brought it brand new, and like man of these posts while driving I heard a pop sound and window came down moter works, or atleast sound like it does as I can hear it going up and down, something broke this problem presented itself on three of the four windows both front, and passenger rear, all the same way, all with three months of each other, really frustrating, my 5th Chysler, and if it's not trany, it's windows, thinking about doing the job myself this time.  If I take to dealership it's about $1200 and based on this forum, I will see this problem again, can this be prevented?

has that been the general part that has been defective, I surley can hear my motor operating in either direction, I have the windows proped up, and if I wanted to lower them I could do so by the power buttons, of course I don't because to raise them is too much trouble, but 3 windows on an 04 model, and all within three months is rediculious.  I wish I knew for sure this was the fix to my problem, I'm told I need to replace the motors which is said to have gone bad, I don't buy it, because as stated they operate in both directions, its as if there is some sort of support bracket missing for the glass to set on when going up and down.  Wish I knew more about this block.

Hi! I'm currently fixing my lh rear window motor, I have the door panel off, but it looks like the clips holding the door handle rods will break very easy... I'm trying to turn them to get them out, but it feels like they will snap...any ideas?

Hey...have you not read what has been said.  The little plastic POS  breaks…buy the machined part at http://www.pocketlogger.com  unless you want to make it yourself. It’s the best way to fix it otherwise it will break again and again. I have had 4 Honda’s and all that has happened to them is there mufflers fall off…..I would take that any day over this stupid window problem..This is a safety hazard.

Hey today I got the part to replace the plastic part for the window regulator..Bought it from http://www.pocketlogger.com..Installed it..Had to undo the cables because they got a little jammed up inside the coiled thing…but the window works great..and when I was waiting for the part I  just used a piece of wood that fit perfectly to hold the window for a week no problems… so instead of paying 100$ for a new window regulator that might break I paid 37$ shipped…I should have bought 4 for every window because I see this happening again..

Many , many thanks to Mike (turbo2ltr) for coming up with the aluminum replacement piece to fix this issue and to mentalone for the clear detailed description of how to replace the window regulator by yourself . We consumers gotta stick together because it`s obvious that once Jeep / Chrysler gets our money they care nothing about us at all . Thanks again guys !!!

UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! WE ALL NEED TO GET TOGETHER AND COMPLAIN TO JEEP... I HAVE ALL THE SAME ISSUES WITH WINDOW MOTORS AND AIR/HEAT MOTORS. I HAD A MECHANIC TEMP HOLD MY WINDOWS UP WITH A PIECE OF WOOD FOR $40 EACH, TWO FRONT WINDOWS SO FAR.  MINE WENT IN MAJOR STORMS.  THIS IS REDIC...IT IS OBVIOUSLY A SCAM AND SHOULD BE A RECALL..BUT THERE IS NOT. I HAVE HEARD THOUSANDS OF STORIES ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEMS AND IT SHOULD BE CORRECTED.. I'M WILLING TO JOIN OR START ANY PETITION TO GET THEM ON THE RIGHT TRACK. WHO KNOWS WITH THIS ECONOMY AND CHRYSLER WHAT WILL HAPPEN, BUT WE ALL NEED TO GET TOGETHER AND SPEAK OUR MINDS AND HOPEFULLY THEY'LL LISTEN..ANY SUGGESTIONS...ANY ONE

After replacing the front passenger side window regulator of my daughters 2001 Jeep Cherokee, she then had both rear window regulators go out and on my other daughters 2003 Jeep Liberty she had one rear window regulator go out. After I had the first one fixed, I had the other three blocked up until I could decide what I wanted to do. Then I found the following website: http://www.josh-n-lisa.com/2006/08/29/howto-change-a-jeep-power-window-regulator/ .

So I taped the windows up and took the three regulators out. I begin thinking of ways to repair. I went to Home Depot and purchased cotter pins (3/32 x 3/4 inch). For the Jeep Cherokee, I run a cotter pin around the cable and through the hole of the plastic nylon piece that had broke and secured it on the backside. I went ahead and put a cotter pin in the one that was not broke so I would not have to do it again in the future and just to  provide a better secure fit, I put some marine epoxy in the holes to fill eliminate the wobble. Put it all back together and BINGO FIXED! Works like a charm.

For the Jeep Liberty, the regulator is completely different. But I used the same technique to repair it. I drilled a small hole “3/32) through the plastic anchor being careful not to pierce the side that slides on the tracking bar. Then I placed the cotter pin around the cable and sunk it between the spring that covers the cable to provide the clearance I needed so the tracking would slide freely and secured it on the back side. ONCE again BINGO FIXED!

Thanks to the referenced website. It got me to thinking and considering ways to repair them rather than replace them. You cannot just get the piece that is broke, you have to purchase the complete unit.  It took very little time and effort to repair. Cost: 70 cents for a bag of cotter pins and 5 dollars for the epoxy.

Thanks Big Time!!! The instructions were right on the money. Found the parts online to replace my left rear and right front regulators/motor assemblies at Advance Auto Parts for $289.00, http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/partlist_Window-Regulator_1262_R|GRP60022__window%20motor___ and had both done in 2 hours. Thank God, too! As the first drops of rain were hitting the windshield as we finished. Your help saved me time, money and my sanity, not to mention my Labor Day weekend. Thanks again!

I am having the same problem with my passenger front window and I found this fix-it at the link posted below.  After two evenings of searching and several calls to parts stores this looks like the way to go.  I will post results asap but will probably be a few days before I get a chance to install after I receive it.  If anyone has any experience with this please post here I am ordering tomorrow.
