I am trying to get a good anwer on switching this vehicle's motor to a newer motor from a car like the Chevy Impala or Olds Alero or Grand Am. Can the motors from the cars above be put into the van. I know their may be timing issues and some minor adjustments but can this be done? The van has cracked a head via the intake gasket problems. My motor is ruined. Still runs but only for a few more miles. Very upset, however, I am going to repair. I do not want to buy new engine but the used ones are difficult to find unless they are from the cars listed above.
Please provide input

Are you doing the work yourself? With the cost of the motor, labor wiring/computer issues I think you would be better buying a new/reman head. That is presumeing that the other one will ***

Thanks,
No I will have it done by a good mechanic. I have been told since my original post that it is very problematic to mix different model year motors. As far as the heads being replaced. My wife overheated this thing to the max. The motor was already using some oil before we ruined it. There is some noise in the motor now and mechanic is afraid to spend the money to repair existing motor. I think I will just buy the new motor and drive it for a few more years. The van still looks new. It is just not a good quality vehicle.
