i need to vent.  ive been pulled over 3 times this month. the first was speeding.  i was just driving along, side by side with an elderly man.  i wasnt passing him, wasnt driving fast, nothing.  next thing i know there are flashing lights behind me.  the first thing he says was "yea.. im going to give you a ticket, i know you were going the exact speed as the guy next to you, but i had to pull one of you over."  it was total BS since he told me i was going with the flow of traffic.  they just wanted the ticket money.

the next was just a sobriety check thing, so it was cool, just a hassle

then this morning, a young female cop waiting at a stop sign to catch people rolling it 30 feet from my house waits for me, pulls out, and pulls me over.  "you did everything right, you stopped, went the right speed, but i have to give you an equipment violation" (fix-it-ticket) for the front license plate.  Only an Irvine, CA cop with nothing better to do in need of ticket writing practice would pull me over for no front license plate right in front of my house and write a ticket out.  ever since I was 16 years old, ive driven a car with no front plate and have NEVER been stopped in california

even though i can take traffic school for the speeding ticket, and get the fix-it ticket cleared, i'm still incredibly pissed off.  i guess my car draws a little too much attention.  sorry about the long post, i needed to vent, im furious  

Dude that sucks, and I know what you mean..... it's called harrassment and cops love to do it.  No front license plate, no license plate light, no windshield wipers.... if they want to, they'll get ya for ANYTHING, and meanwhile there's actual crime goin' on all over the place.  You're a nice guy which makes you an easy target too. I got a ticket in sight of my house for window tint, and after the cops said, "Well don't let this ruin your night."  Yeah ok sure!!! Sometimes it makes me SOOO mad, so I don't blame ya for venting.  Especially if they said those things to you, they're all but apologizing for being jerks.  
C'mon SE major is there anything we can DO?  Why do you think I was a Crim/SE major? Cops and people ripping stuff off my truck.  
Hang in there, you'll probably go a while without gettin' in trouble, hopefully.

Thats not true at all, there is plenty of crime in Irvine. The SWAT Team rolled the other night at the Spectrum. Apparently CPK ran out of gorgonzola and tried to substitute gruyere, well needless to say people noticed and it starteda riot. It was awful there was hummus and broken Zima bottles everywhere.

Seriously though, sorry to hear about the ticket DP. I have gotten my share of tickets and generaly it sucks. I have never(knock on wood) have gotten a fix-it-ticket. The beetle is the first car I have ever had a front plate on, and a front plate was the least of my worries on my 911. As for speeding, I have known quite a few cops and they don't really like giving speeding tickets, but it's part of the job. A few guys I know have even been written up for not giving tikets, they will let people drive along with the flow of traffic, and then some jackhole with too much freetime calls the station and tells them that people are flying down the road right in front of the cop and he is doing nothing about it. Sometimes things just suck.

The most pissed I have ever been is getting a ticket for "a dangerous turning motion" I was slaloming cones in my 911. Two motorcycle cops were sitting behind a tree on the oppsite side of a driveway a half mile up the road. I saw and pulled into the parking lot right next to them. They didn't even have to start their bikes. One cop thought it was really funny and was joking around with me. i didn't realize his buddy was writing me a ticket while we were talking about my car.  

yeah i hear ya.  its all politics.  they need to give tickets to someone even if there is no crime.  they still have to "do their job".  im just glad the only thing she got me for was the front plate ***knock on wood*** since there is enough crap coming out of my exhaust to choke a horse. and its a little on the loud side.  im glad i ditched my old big wing and other modded car cues.  that would give the cops a reason to inspect my motor/emissions for modifications and really hassle me.  

Cops are just doing thier job, but yeah, Irvine cops are the worst.  Got a ticket the other day on Jamboree doing 60 in a 55 zone...I didn't even notice, nor care.  

If you're going to drive a midified car/truck, just don't get caught, that's my newest thing. And if you do get caught, play the game and don't show attitude.  

And yes there is crime in Irvine believe me; there is crime everywhere.  It's opportunity, and opportunity for crime is everywhere.  

If it makes you feel any better, my friend in his new wrx, stock wrx except for exhaust, off the lot like that, got a ticket for it last night. Made him pop the hood and everything. Cop said, "yeah for the next couple of nights we're out to get you people."  

I'm sorry to here DP, how are you going to get rid of the fix-it ticket for the front plate? Are you going to put it on? or u have a special way to get rid of it? thanks and good luck!!  

im just going to put it on and get it cleared.  the cop told me the campus police at my school can sign off on it, plus i have till the end of august to clear it.  im not too worried.
