Are there any sedans, like civics, that are front wheel drive cars that you can tow a quad with? I'm interested in getting a small trailer and towing it around to the desert, but am not interested in paying the high prices of gas with a truck when not towing!

Nothing in the Civic class can tow anything... If you want to tow with a car, you'll need something with a lot of torque. Also, rear-drive is better, and a body-on-frame car is ideal. All of this points the way to... the Ford Crown Victoria! At one point, the Crown Vic was rated to tow up to 5,000 pounds with a special towing package, but I think that's down to 2,000 now. And that's probably the max for any sedan. Dodge Magnum and Chrysler 300 could probably haul their share of work too. Still not the most gas-friendly vehicles, but they do undercut your average F-150 by 1,500 pounds...

Perhaps a small pickup truck like a used S-10 would suit your needs.

You can still get the class 3 hitch for the crown vic...It is rated at 3500 lbs with a 350 lb tongue wieght. It is good for wieght distribution to 6000 lbs.
