I want to get a motorcycle but I don't know. I was thinking of a kawasaki but some friends of mine have Hondas and they said its good enough for them so I don't know what I should think.

if its your first bike or if your not a very experienced rider, a 600 would be your best best. a 1400 bike is wayyy too much for a new rider to handle. even the kawasaki zx9r is too much for a new rider.
honda's are the best built in terms of quality. i think of them as the toyota of motorcycles. Yamaha R1 is too much for a new rider as well, but the new ones are just insane. the new Suzuki gsx-rs are great performers, and italians bikes are just sexy, aprilias..mmmmmm...
anyway if i bought a bike, i would buy a Honda 600rr. if i could afford one, an aprilia 2 stroke.

Aren't 2 stroke engines illegal here cause of the smog emissions or am I thinking of the other one?

I am a big fan of Yamaha motorcycles. A good beginner bike from Yamaha is a turbo hayabusa. Haha just kidding if you were to get a turbo hayabusa you'd kill yourself. In all seriousness, the GSX-R 600 is a really good bike. Your first bike should be bigger than a 750. There's plenty of power with a 600 or 750. You have to learn to crawl before you start running.

i ve always heard that a honda 600 f4i is a very forgiving bike and therefore a good one to learn on. This is the bike I plan to buy, unfortunatly its not any faster then my car, at least on the highway, but o' well still kick *ss

I started on a Yamaha virago 250, great bike and good pickup but no power in the higher end. Im looking at getting an R6 next :P You want to start small so you don't kill yourself before you get to have fun.
