My car has very little power sometimes, and will not shift in to high gear sometimes. It does not do this all the time but seems to be for frequent every day. It only has 30,000 miles on it. How can I fix the problem?

From your description it could be a million things, your best bet is to take it to a trustworth mechanic.  Off the top of my head, sporadic power loss and not shifting into gear sounds like you may have a transmission problem.  Your gears may be slipping, and that's why you feel a loss of power.  Take it to a mechanic.

There are a few known problems with 2000-2003 Hyundai Accent transmissions.  The first is problems with corroded wiring connectors or other problems with the wiring.  Some of these problems can only be solved by replacing the faulty wiring harness.  The second is a problem with the pulse generator.  The last is a problem with the transmission fluid temperature sensor.

You most likely have one or more of the problems listed above.  There are many people out there with Accents with the same symptoms that you are experiencing and have tried to work out the solution with Hyundai.

A good start would be to contact a Hyundai dealer close to you and see if they are aware of the general problems with Accent transmissions (some dealers are not).  Good luck

These cars have intermittent problems with the ignition coils. Had one in a year ago and it would drive ok for a while then cut down to 2 cylinders thus loosing power. Sometimes it would come right by it self and other time would have to stop for a few minutes and then start off again. Hyundai no of this fault.

Check the throttle postion sensor or TPS they have a high failure rate on these models.
