it has been doing this for a few years and i never got it fixed b/c they never found the problem! it seems like it doesnt vibrate as bad after driving it for a few hours

i was told tires--i have gone through 3 sets. i aligned the car 2x and nada!

recently a local "forein car specialist" test drove it..he said i had a problem with the drive shaft?? that ling bar that runs along length of car..said he needs to remove it to see what is wrong with it...

any input from you guys that have had similar cars or similar problems???

is this problem gonna cost me an arm an a leg??

Well if you've checked all the tire and wheel possibilities, then yes it likely could be your driveshaft.  But first, make sure your tires and wheels are properly balanced, then make sure it's not your wheels.  They could be dented from hitting a pothole or something.

If it is in fact your driveshaft, I'd estimate around $1500 or more to replace.  Though generally you shouldn't have driveshaft problems unless you got in a car accident or something.  Did you?

I am not familiar with this car, but if it is driveshaft vibration and he hasn’t been in an accident it may just be U-Joints going bad. U-Joints just go over time especially with hard driving. Usually not more than $20-$30 bucks at the parts store and pretty easy to do yourself.

no, no accidents. i was told it could be a part wearing out causing the drive shaft to give a little hence causing the vibration.

they have done everything to the tires and wheels and always came out okay.

i really hope its not 1500 job! LOL that's 1/4 of what i hope to sell it for...damnit!
LOL

Hey, man i had the same exact problem with my 1990 300zx N/A. It vibrated really bad at 25mph and then as time went on it got worse and worse. Right before it went out it was vibrating at 25-60mph and the bad thing about this problem is that u cant order the U-joints because its wedged into the shft. But i have called several machine shops and they said that they might be able to repair it for around $300 buck which is alot better than $1500. I called Nissan dealerships and all said it could be orderd for around $650 buck. Well let me know what ever came of your problem

Just went through the whole ordeal. DRIVESHAFT, good luck finding someone local to fix. The u joints are not easily replaced. New shafts
if you can find one are about $ 700.oo. I finally went on line and found
a company in Texas that does this type of work. They completely replace
all the parts, I just ordered one today, so can't say much more now, my car finally got too bad to drive,.The vibration comes from the 2 unions, which are at a slight angle, you prbobably got an intermident
vibration, every so often, until it becomes more pronounced. Good luck
I have been looking for 2 months for a new shaft and no luck.

Guys. This car has a 2 piece driveshaft from the factory. Likely the steady bearing is shot and is a frequent problem causing vibration at the speed you are talking. The U-joins are not replacable, at leas tnot a factory recommendation. Aftermarket places like Concept Z sell 1 piece driveshafts with replaceable joints so you never have to do this again
