"We're thinking about it," is BMW R&D chief Burkhard Goschel's laconic answer every time someone mentions a replacement for the short-lived Z8. In fact, BMW has looked at three different proposals. A mid-engine Z10 lost out because the market for ultraexpensive supercars like the Mercedes-McLaren SLR and the Porsche Carrera GT is so thin. An ultralight Z6 was deemed too close to the next-generation Z4 and too hard-core to yield 15,000 annual sales. The leading contender is a new Z8-a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive, two-seater with a retractable hard top-aimed squarely at the Mercedes-Benz SL.

I don't know. Pay six-figures when the Z4 looks (and drives) better? And despite the article's promise the Z4 and Z8 will be dissimilar, I'm seeing a repeate of the X3 and X5 here.  

I'm not sure, the original Z8s didn't seem to sell that well. When I was still selling bimmers a little over two years ago there were still over 20 sitting in showrooms around the country. I think they should go for the mid engine car. Make another M1.  

BMW Z8s were very classy and rare. However, with that kind of money I'll get myself a Porsche GT3!!  

i guess it will be a Z6 , the Z8, even when its for me, the greatest car of BMW; didn't had the answer of the public, for the price, so a Z6, that its supossed to be between the Z4 coupe and the 650i its the most probable introduction by BMW; expect the new V8 with 400 hp or more, that its supossed to debut in the M3,in the Z6, price should be in the mid 60K, without enter in the 70K that its territory of the bigger 650i, and just two passengers, info goted from MT predictions for the future
