What was your first car?

My first car that was actually mine and not a shared family car, was a 1981 BMW 5-Series. Man that thing was smaller than today's 3-series by far. It had no powering steering, but I liked it. Had a peppy, but relatively weak engine. I put a Sebring exhaust on it, man it was loud. I blew up the engine one night, I think it ran out of motor oil, doh. The first car I actually was driving though was an '87 Acura Legend, our family car. Eventually it became mine. I got all stupid with it trying to mod it & stuff. Hey I'm STILL driving that car today.

I'm having horrible, horrible flashbacks.

MY first car, the one that I owned personally, was a 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS.  It was green.  Oh the horror.  The day I got rid of that car and upgraded to my 2004 A4 1.8T was a wonderful, wonderful day.

The first car that I drove was a 63' MGB, candy apple red. Unfortunately no pics of mine but it looked a little like this. It was in fair condition but it was very British so the engine needed almost daily maintenance and snychronizing dual single barrel carbuerators is not exactly fun but I was the only kid in school that had one so it was nice being unique.

First car I owned was my 97 eclipse spyder, yeah I know, a step down.

No pic, but it was a primer gray 1980 Toyota Corolla station wagon.  You laugh, but I loved that car: manual steering, brakes, transmission, black vinyl interior w/ no AC. It got totalled on grad night (not my fault), and then oddly enough, stolen 3 weeks later.

My first car was this 1987 Toyota Starlet. It had a 1.0 litre engine and was painfully slow. Slow to the point of being dangerous in my opinion! Merging onto the highway on an on-ramp with a steep incline was a bit of a nightmare. The brakes weren't good either.

That said it was very reliable and in exceptional condition for its age.

At the wise old age of 16, I developed a fine respect with good 'ole German engineering from my first car, a 1979 VW Rabbit. That's right fahrvergnuggen ("driving pleasure").

This little thing rocked! No, literally. I'd be driving at top speeds of 80 mph and it shook like no other car I've ever been in, especially when cars passed me by as I waited in a turn lane. It is ultra-light. However, I really enjoyed driving this car. It was agile and I will never forget learning to drive stick with this 5-speed diesel engine clunker. In fact, I'd be driving to friends' houses and they'd be outside waiting for me already because they'd already heard me coming down the street a block away....

My first car was called "the Beast"

it was a total candidate for Pimp My Ride - too bad this was back in 1985 when MTV actually showed videos all day long (what a crazy idea!) and not stupid roadrules challenge all day long and the videos were bad like Cyndi Lauper with Captain Lou Albano guest starring and the PetShopBoys and Haircut 100 and other great great bands and videos or even animated videos like A-Ha - those guys were great -

anyways my first car was a 1978 Olds Delta 88 - this thing was a beast in every sense - cloth grey interior, grey faded exterior - the thing was a total piece of *****

the only two things you need to know about the beast were that
1. I handpainted the car with a brush - like a painting
2. I glued carpet to the top - like on your floor right now - to the top because the cover fell off and corroded and so the carpet idea made sense, and
3. in those days all you had were cassette tapes  - problem was my cassette player busted and the tape that was stuck in it for a whole year was Boston 3 - you my remember the song Amanda  - that is the worst Boston album ever

but I know every word to every song - every single one

My first car was a blue/ gray primer 1972 Chevy Vega with the first aluminum head engine for chevy. The engine blew up in the thing so I got smart and shoved a 350 down in it. The first step was to dent the firewall in 4 inches.

Being in my late 20s, my first car was a 1985 Toyota Van/Wagon.  It was a hand-me-down from my parents and had over 200000 miles on it by my 16th birthday.  I drove that thing through high school and it finally died (one cylinder had almost no compression).  We sold it for $500 to some local immigrants and they continued to drive it...we'd see it around town every now and then.

The first car I bought was a '91 Buick LeSabre...it wouldn't die either.  I drove it through college and then sold it to my brother when he turned 16.  He totaled it with over 257000 miles on it.

I had no more than a bicycle all through college.  On graduation, I bought a band new 1984 Ford Tempo and proceeded to drive it into the ground.  It looked something like this:
