Is anyone else a little baffled by Mazda's decision making lately?  their new suv - CX-7 comes factory turbocharged with 244hp but yet their sports car the "zoom zooming" rx-8 is left underpowered without a turbo when it was supposed to be the replacement for the rx-7 (twin-turbo).  bad form.  turbo suvs and n/a rotaries?? whats next?? the new mpv is going to have 400 horsepower??

RE: MPV.
It's getting canned for the U.S. and I think they have a few over in Japan

The Mazdaspeed 3 is going to be front wheel drive. Why not make it all wheel drive and try to undercut the STIs and EVOs on price? They make the MX-5 bigger, but don't increase the interior's size. I like some of the things Mazda has been doing lately, but they just can't seem to pull it all together at the same time.

rx-8 handles well, has a 6speed, looks have grown on me a lot, but its a naturally aspirated rotary.  i am very very disappointed (especially after the glorious twin turbo RX-7), i think they killed the car by keeping the turbo out of the equation.  then it would really zoom..

then they slap us in the face by coming out with a turbo suv.. im hurt

I believe Mazda is going to release the new RX-7 in a few years. The RX-8 was not meant to be a replacement for the RX-7, I read that somewhere...

technically it wasnt but in many ways it was, lets be honest.  it flopped enough that they didnt want to call it the bew rx-7 officially since its n/a and a "four door".  sure there are plans for a new try ar the rx-7 called kabura i believe, lets just see how that does.  in my opinion, i dont think mazda will ever top the FD3S rx-7..

Yup The FD3S RX-7 was a beast to tune. It still outhandles and outpowers a lot of modern sport cars nowadays.

i agree, it was way ahead of its time in so many ways.  like the supra, its design still remains beautiful today.  you cant tell how long ago it was made.  they were both made in the glory days of fast rwd turbocharged cars...

Speaking of RX-7s, the one (if not only) car that I appreciated from FTF: Tokyo Drift was the Veilside RX-7. The clean lines flowed well with the aggressive look.
