posting a new question...

log in...    get to the active forums..  there is a pull down bar above to select a forum to post in.. you have to pull down and then click go.. and be quick about it..

did you get the shift slide valve lined up properly with the inside the case shift lever pin...???  there might be a picture of this last year on this forum..

i have on other earlier models of C4, and A4LD which is the grandfather of whats in your truck... had the external shift lever come unfastened from the manual lever shaft that sticks through the case...  so the outer lever moves.. but does not transfer full motion to the shaft ...  that can also cause the shifter not to move the inside components...   but usually the internal lever pin is not properly engaged in the sliding valve piston...

sorry i don't know all the exact part names..

found it...

i don't know if this is the exact image you need... i think it is.. but i am not a transmission pro

I have a 2001 Dodge Neon. I recently had the motor and alternator replaced because of water damage. Now i seem to be getting electrical problems. As of lately its been stalling and the ALL the lights on the dash were showing up! The brake, seat belt, engine, milage blinkin...the whole 9. When i hooked it up to the computer it read PO743 Torque Converter Electrical. They told me to check the fluid and it was fine. I dont know what to do next   . ALSO, theirs a black wire hanging down from the front right side of the car by the grill that wasnt hanging there before and im wondering if that has anything to do with it? PLS help me

i feel bad.. but... what kind of water damage did you have...

did your car get flooded???

this kind of repairs need to be done ONE circuit and one item at a time.. in person....  by a trained professional mechanic..

or a skilled owner with a factory service manual..  a decent OBD2 scan tool that will also display "CAN".... a logic probe... a digital volt meter..

(CAN is controller area network.   the computer controls a LOT of things on these cars...  newer cars have even more items controlled totally by the computer)

was the damage covered by your car insurance...  then ask them for additional repairs ..

flood cars are NOT fun to repair....

water gets into circuits and reverse electro plates the circuit board... causing it to NEVER work again..  and or short out..

when you say odometer.. thats the display on the speedometer that shows how many miles you have driven..   the speedometer is what shows how fast you are going..   if the speedometer quit moving..  i would look at the vehicle speed sensor..

the transmission is computer controlled.. it needs various inputs to know what gear to shift into...

this is the speed sensor mounted on the side of the tail housing..

there is a plastic gear on the end of this.. that does not come with it.. those sometimes fail.. . the speed sensor shown has been known to fail... the wiring to it has been known to fail.. sometimes right at the connector...

there is also a manual lever position sensor on the side of the transmission..   it replaced the neutral safety switch.. those have also been known to fail...

its important to access the trouble codes...   your 95 could be OBD2 or obd1...    i hope its OBD2.. as thats going to make it a LOT easier to diagnose...
