We have taken our Durango in two months ago because it was dying and not starting back up and one shop changed a sensor that seemed to fix the problem for month and it happened again.  We took it to another shop and paid for an analysis again to find out we need a another computer box?  Cost $950.00 dollars.  We need our car, we both work and have 3 children, but need to go about the cheapest way.  Any suggestions?

What sensor did the shop change? Do you have spark or fuel with the no-start condition? As far as computer...$132.00 all day on ebay "buy now"

the more info you can give us the better.  You could also try a junk yard for an ecu.

What nobody has said is that the computer is covered by warranty by order of the FED's. it has an 8 yr warranty but Dodge doesn't want you to know that.... So if they can get you to buy it they don't care.

Hello    I have a 1999 dodge Durango  and we have been having problems with it dieing on us and we changed that fuel  pump thinking that it was that   due to the fact that the fuel pump would not turn on.  but we got a new one and it still dies on us. I told my husband that i think we will need a new ecu for it.   is there anything you can tell  me on this

Do you have anymore information regarding the warranty of the computer. We have a 2006 Durango and today it just quit running. It shut off and would not start again. The engine would not turn over. All the lights and accessories work properly.

The solution I have found is in the connectors on the wiring harness that plugs onto the computer. After the engine bay gets hot (especially in the summer) the connectors get soft and the tiny pins inside them lose contact. Leave the key in the on position, pop the hood and press on the middle connector on the left hand side on the fender well (passenger side) where the computer is. The computer looks like a small power amp for a car stereo and the 3 connectors are under/below it. The middle one seems to be the gremlin.  It only takes a slight push and you will here the fuel injectors energize (buzz) and the key chime will start dinging inside the car. Then go back inside and turn the key off  and then on to start your car. If it works, put some silver or white HVAC (Duct) tape on the connector. If it happens again, at least you know where the problem is, and usually it just needs to be adjusted and more tape on it. I have only had to adjust one time in 6 months  Now at least you can drive the truck again to a cliff or a field and torch it. I know that there are many other problems with the 99 Durango, but maybe by the time you see this there will be a solution from Dodge before someone is killed after their truck stalls in the middle of the freeway loaded with kids. Let me know if this works for you by writing to:
