Do those fuel additives for cleaning fuel system work?

I'm trying out an STP complete fuel system cleaner on my truck. I think there might be some "dirt" in either the filter (doubtful) or the pump (probable). Replacing the pump would be expensive and REALLY difficult on my truck.

It seems like the tank that's giving me the problem is giving me a bit more power now, but I may just be getting lucky.

Anyway, does that stuff really work, or is it just nothing?

This is a big debate on this board.  I dont think anyonme really has the facts.  This particualr producrt seems like it gets good reviews though.

This and some of the other OTC additives for PM purposes work great. None will fix a mechanical problem. One of the best I've used for fuel system and valve deposit cleaning is BG Product's "44K". $25+ per can.
If this doesn't clear things up you'll have to go to the next level, a professional type system cleaner at a shop.
