Hi, Im at my wits ends with this. Here goes.
Ok, the other day while driving, the car sputtered and died and would not resart. It would crank but nothing, no engine start. So I tried it a couple more times and while pressing on the pedal, it seemed as if it was almost about to start. So I thought the fuel pump of filer. I then pushed all the way home and the next day I went out and just turned the ingnition on and listen for the pump. Sounded ok, ran for sec and then turned off. Tried to start it, just cranked. I then removed the fuel filter and it was clogged. I could barley get and air to pass through. Changed it.
Then I tried to start it, and nothing, just clicks, no cranking at all. So I thought mabye I killed my battery after all the tries. So I took it to the shop, it was low and they charged it up and it bench tested fine. Put it back in and tried to restart the car. This time no crank, but a little more than the click click. This is how it sounds. You know when you have your car on and running and you accidently try to start it again and it makes that aweful sound. Well thats what it sounded like after I put the battery back in. Did it a couple of times.
So a friend of mine said mabye the crank shaft froze up or something. So he suggested trying to manually turn it. Well, that didnt work and his dad suggested that since I tried cranking it before, the compression could be too much for me to turn it. He said to remove the spark plugs to releive the pressure and then try to turn the shaft then. Well I got 3 spark plugs out so far, what a pain in the rear. Anyway, my question is this.
What could it be? Am I on the right track. Could the compression be that much over night that it wont allow me to move the crank? Im really about to beat this car with a sledge hammer. Any suggestions would be helpful. Could it be the starter, not catching the flywheel? I have no idea. Thank you.
