I am looking to buy a 1996 Saab 900 SE (Turbo) from a private party. The guy says the car's engine was replaced and that the replaced engine has 81,000 miles on it. The odometer shows 125,000 miles. How can i verify the engine's mileage. Should the odometer miles show the new engines miles or the old body's miles. I ran a Carfax report on the VIN and there is nothing about the replaced engine, the history is good. Is there a way i can verify his statement. Is there a VIN on the engine ?
Can anyone help ? Thanks.
