Springs are confusing. Depening on what your doing(lifting, lowering, rock crawing, etc) there are many options.
I have a 85 CJ7 with a 304 and it spends most of it's time on the street. it had 10 stacked in the back and 8 in the front with a 4" rearched lift when I bought it some years ago.

This combo seemed great to the kid I got it from but you couldn't keep the thing on the road because it road sooooooo stiff.

I removed all but 3 leafs in the front and it did sag some the 4" lift is more like 2"now but it rides great.
The rear I removed all but 4 leafs and it sits nice and level. The only thing is that if I get on it really, REALLY hard it does have some axle hop now. I can live with this I didn't buy the jeep for smokin the tires anyway 33x14.5's are too expensive for that..
