I am trying to find anyone else who is getting low gas mileage. I love this car (SUV) but after over 3,000 miles I am only getting 17.5 city and 21 highway. Kia was no help. Said there is a 5000 mile "break in period" before they will do a fuel consuption test which may or may not cost me! I just want someone to tell me their gas mileage on the new Kias. I see lots of problems with the late 90's models but nothing current. Please let me hear from you. Lark52@hotmail.com  

Do you have the I4 or V6 model? What is your driving style? I have not heard that the Sportage--or its "sibling" the Hyundai Tucson--get great mileage as far as SUVs go. EPA mpg for the V6 is 19/23; the four-cylinder is scarcely better.
