I want to share my experience regarding my Nissan 350Z and doing business with Nissan. Recently driving along a highway, the airbags, for no reason, deployed on their own. It was sheer luck I wasn't killed. You would think that Nissan would take responsibility for this problem with their airbags, but NO! Their own engineer checked the car out. Nissan won't do a thing until I sign a legal letter of release so they can't be sued.

I am warning any and everyone not to purchase vehicles from Nissan. They have defective airbag problems and Nissan as a company will not stand behind the products they build.  

YES.  HAHA..you are my new best friend.  Although this is the only instance I have heard of the airbags deploying, I am so biased about Nissans, that I BELIVE IT.  Sorry to here that brother.  Good Luck.

I was a tech for infiniti.  

did you hit something that triggered the sensor?  that happened to my cousin once but it was a toyota not a nissan.  he ran over a rock or something and the air bag deployed.

@_@ that must of been hella scary to have the airbags deploy randomly.  i've never owned/drove a nissan/infinity before so i wouldn't know.  are they really that bad? i thought they were a decent car company? at least better than american?  

Well, they are more reliable than GM, Ford, Chevy etc...  And statistics are a pain man.  The odds of getting out of bed, sliping and breaking your neck are just as good as what happened to you.  But you see, stats eventually catch up with someone, (anyone) at a random freak occurence.  Try to find one other person this happened to with a nissan specifically.  
Airbags are unstable by nature (explosives). They wear out.  The manuals all say to replace them every six years from what I find.  Mine were replaced when they saved my life, and I got out uninjured, no bruised arms/face/chest or burnt arms/face/chest.  I'd say that's pretty good eh?  45-0mph in 0.000023 seconds.  
The company that makes airbags (TRW) blows up on a regular basis.  Yes! The manufacturer of airbags, has lots of suprise explosions while they are manufacturing them.  Your beef is with the manufacturer of the airbag, and so is Nissans!!!  

MORE INFO PLEASE!!!!!  How fast were you going? What yr 350Z? Which level (base, enthusiast, coupe, convertible?) Stick or auto? Could you please run down the whole series of events leading up to the air bag deployment? Did you buy it new? Do you have an attorney? VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!  My son died in one of these cars, and I want to know why!!!! I think the car broke.

My 2006 350Z recently spun out of control when the car ricocheted off one of the walls of a ramp on the highway as I was cut off on the road. The front end was competely smashed, the car is totaled and I am lucky to be alive. The strange thing is that only the passenger airbag deployed and not the driver side although there was no passenger.

From what I hear, this sounds like a malfunction. Does this make sense to anyone?
