Have a toyota 88 camry 4-cyclinder that engine starts up but hesitate at low rpm when you accelarate in low gears.
After warms  up, the problem is gone, but it repeats itself at cold start like not enough gas going to combustion. If you rev the engine by cut the clutch off, Engine responds but release the clutch and the engine still hesitate until a mile was driven.

Any idea where to check?

Im not sure about an 88 camry but I know alot of cars, while warming up, will use engine coolant temps when factoring in thier ignition timing, so when your ect temps are not up to operating speed, your engine will retard your ignition timing a certian % making your engine stutter.

Thats sounds like what is happening, but im not positive.

Check the airflow meter (air temp), cooland temp, O2 sensor...
