We are having the same problem with our jeep. Ours is a 4.0, Straight 6 and hasn't totally died -- yet. We've also done the same repairs/replacements that you did.  This started about 6 weeks ago but yesterday was the first time it did it more than once per day.  At one point we had some information regarding some type of sensor(other than crank shaft one), but haven't been able to find that again, and none of the mechanics we've talked to seem to be aware of that.  We are still doing research so if we come up with anything else we'll post it.  In the meantime if you find the answer please help us too!

Hey spiked2u = over the weekend I removed and cleaned the IAC - idle air control valve.  It was trashed, lots of carbon build up, etc.  Driven it for 2 days so far, and no shutting off.  Maybe this was the trick!  Something for you to try anyway.  Good Luck!

Hi Dwindle,

I need help in this matter as well.  My 96 Jeep GC cuts out when it wants to while driving.  Where do I go under the hood for the IAC to clean it out?

Let me know.  Thanks

PS K2 posted on 6/18/06 that he went through the same problem, but he couldn't remember which sensor the mechanic replaced to fix the stalling and stopping.  K2, If you read this please let me know which sensor needs to be replaced.  I replaced the Crankcase Position Sensor and that didn't help. ($51.95 Part and $60.00 Labor)

I have a 1994 JGC 5.2. The problem started out with the engine engine running very rough and backfiring, now it is very hard to start and dies almost immediatley. any ideas?
