"Mazda Motor Corp said Thursday it has developed in cooperation with Hiroshima University and other local concerns a plant-derived plastic strong enough for use as interior parts for automobiles."

Apparently the new material not only takes less energy to create but uses less costly ingrediates. The automaker's planning to start putting it into production vehicles in the next few years. (ounds okay as long as the interior of my car doesn't smell like treesap.)
