American muscle cars are usually considered the Ford Mustang or the Chevrolet Camaro. But what about imports? Does the M or AMG for BMW and Mercedes-Benz make them muscle as well?

AMG definately is. Engines built with torque as a major point is *** a Muscle Car. While M series are powerful, they are not 0-60 work horses and instead do their best as hearts to Time Attacks.
