GM killed the Ion last year. But it's a temporary death. According to AutoWeek, the Ion will be back as rebadged Opel Astra's from Europe. Heck, the name "Ion" may be replaced by Astra. GM's keeping mull but it's looking more and more as a done deal.

Personally, I've always liked the look of the Ion. But I have to admit the Astra's more modern-styling.

It reminds me of a 2dr Dodge Caliber. I am sure this will tick off the Ion Red owners since many of them dis-like the original SRT4

I had 2 saturns: 1994 SL1 & 2001 SC2
Bought the SL1 new was absolutely FLAWLESS after 52K miles in 18 months, avg 40MPG on middle grade gas & look good (for its time). Got more positive comments on its looks than the 95 Grand Am GT I replaced it with Bought the SC2 used with 33K miles on it, put 60+K miles on in 18-20 months. Avg 35-40MPG on low grade gas. Had a couple small issues with it (water in the fog light from rain twice, idler pulley needed replaced & needed tires & brakes when I got it) but other than that, ran great.
