My son has a Jeep Wrangler that suddendly started missing and sputtering. He lost his gas cap a couple of days ago, could it be water in the tank? He had new sparkplugs, sparkplug wires, distributor cap, co (tfi) module installed and the injectors cleaned. It is still missing and sputtering. They checked the compression and it was about half of what it should be. I have taken care of this jeep since it was brand new and have never had any problems. He is in the Navy and stationed in Norfolk so I can't look at it. Could it be as simple as water in the tank?
Thanks for any help!

Yes, water in the tank could be the reason, a bad batch of gas, maybe condensation... pour a can of Heet in the tank it will dry the water up. Also replace the gas cap as the emission system will not operate properly without it {pressure}.Also change the fuel filter.
