I have a 2003 Altima with less than 98,000 miles. The car uses about a quart of oil every 2 weeks, I probably drive less than 150 miles a week. My heater only works if I am excelerating, if I stop for a light it blows cold air. I took it to a Nissan dealership for my heater they are saying that I have antifreeze leaking into my #4 cylinder and I need a new head gasket, but they recommended that I get a new engine. I've replaced the steering, 1 of the catalytic converters. This car is just junk. I have had 4 Nissans before this one and never had any real issues. These are issues with the car that I had nothing to do with, why am I having to foot the bill for obvious design flaws. How about the gas tank door not shutting properly. My Daughter has a 2002 Altima with the same oil problem and the gas tank door doesn't shut. She has also had problems with her heater. We would both like to be part of your Class Action Suit.

Hello, I am definitely in for this one. Just got notice my self that the problem of oil loss will progress and I will need a new engine (6k)! I am very dissapointed in Nissan, as I have been with them for many years, trusting them in helping me maintain my vehicle. Hopefully this works, I am totally supporting this idea, and at the least, need to give us a 50-75% off of a new engine part/labor! Best wishes, Mo

Dont even bother. Sell the car as is. Buy any other one that doesnt have the QR25DE engine. PERIOD.
I have a 2002 Altima 2.5S. Bought it in april of 2006 with 102k on it. I completely gave up on it 2 days ago when the timing chain came off (at 175k). Yes I know I put ~30k a year but I took a really good care of it, because Im a mechanic myself and dont trust any other mechanic with my car. Its like giving your wife to another man to take a look under her skirt. So, it all started at ~130k with the CATALYTIC CONVERTER going bad which obviously started to crape the cylinder walls and excessively wearing off the piston rings, which lead to the excessive oil consumption (no leaks were noted). A new CAT cost ~$400, but Headers cost ~$150 (aftermarket, no CAT, straight pipes, more power, prevents future danger to the engine, check engine light stays on). Also added a Cold Air Intake for better compression, to compensate for the worn piston rings. Added about one quart weekly. Oil changed every 2 weeks 10w-40. At ~168k (about 1.5 months ago) had to replace the HEAD GASKET and Crankshaft Sensor. However at this point I already knew that it was only temporary until the engine gives in. And now it did. In my case contacting Nissan was completely pointless. The only reason Im keeping this Altima is because my wife is attached to it (B.S. "sentimental value"). Im probably going to rebuild the engine later on ($600-$900 Master Rebuild Kit on eBay). But for now Im getting myself a new car.
P.S. Im an aggressive driver (extremely aggressive) and to be honest this car can take abuse, some of my friends even say as a joke that I Rape it. What can I say... I love cars. Anyway, I know this car in and out, if anyone has any questions on this car and/or QR25DE engine, feel free to ask.
