Hi Folks, I will be going to Canada in a few weeks and am looking for a GPS system. It would have to have quite detailed mapping as I will be out in the sticks (between Owen Sound and Meaford, ONT. ) I will need to be able to get around the rural streets. I would like to keep the price reasonable and will need one that is able to have the volume set on loud (for my mother who is hard of hearing!). I would appreciate if anyone could give me some advise on this!!!
Thanks, PhotoLady

PhotoLady (love the handle!), there's a device called GyPSy Guide you may want to check out:

Apparently you can rent them. One interesting feature: As you approach a site of interest, it beams information, trivia, etc. about the site to your radio.

That sounds like just the sort of think we are looking for. Does anyone know if it available in Ontario yet??
The thought of renting one sounds a lot better than having to buy one!!
The name comes from my 'bad' habit of taking tons more pictures than I will ever be able to use!!

Perhaps you can try the free navigation system from Nav4all. It's a mobile phone GPS system with voice navigation. It is user friendly and suitable for new users. For more information, you can check their website: www.nav4all.com

We used out Garmin 7620 in Totonto and the West Coast of Britich Columbia. It did fantastically in both places. In BC, it knew the locations and names of the most obscure back roads on Vancouver Island and Texada Island. It also showed many (although not all) of the dirt roads we were on.
The 2620 is not made any more, but you still might be able to get one thro0ugh Amazon. The newer models in the same line (2720, for instance) would do equally well.
