Hello i have a 2006 330i with 18" rims. The car has had major problems in the past. The car has 13k miles on it at 3k it had a major oil leak on the way up to idaho from san diego california. So in spokane they replaced the main seal in the trans. and the clutch. Then at 9k it had major engine problems so they replaced the engine. Then at 11k it got a new battery and now there are 2 chunks out of each run flat. What are the best run flats out there? thanks CR

Another 06 BMW 325i with bridgestone turanza EL42 RFT tires. Bought mine from Quality Imports of Ft Walton Beach, FL. These dealers have had the "secret" BMW Service Information Bulletins (36 06 06) and know very well that these tires are defective. Yet, amazingly, it is kept "hidden" from the customer!! I cant believe there has been no recall on these tires!!

I have the same problem and my car was only 17K miles. The scoop of this depends totally on the brand type of the tires you have installed in you car.
If your tires are from Bridgestone, you are in luck because Brigestone will pay for two tires if you buy the other two. They are aware of the problem so since they don't want to get sued again, they are running this offer.
But like me, I am S.O.L. My tires are from Continental and they are not having any sort of recall since they say that there is nothing wrong with their tires. I called them at 1-800-847-3349 (BMW Customer Relations gave me their number) and I got someone nasty who even called me racial names and plain told me to ƒuck off.
I called BMW back at 1-800-831-1117 and argued with them that they should cover the cost of at least two tires like Bridgestone is doing. I based my argument on the fact that I did not choose the tires installed on my car but they did. They agreed with that (that I do not choose the tires) but still left me dead in the water and told me to ƒuck off too.
We should start a class action lawsuit against Continental Tires and also against BMW. On my part, I am taking this information to the media and see if they (Ccntinental Tires and/or BMW) get a well needed prostate digital exam. Who is with me?

Add me to the list. My experience is identical to everyone else in this forum. 2006 325 XI...excessive road noise at 14,000. Dealer replaced tires for 50%, so I was out of pocket $500. At 30,000, same thing...and I am out of pocket another $500. What is annoying is this...when I called Bridgestone, they sent me the service advsory recommending that tires be rotated every 5,000 miles, but BMW did not share this with me. So, like thousands of others, I have paid for BMW's reluctance to acknowlege their problem. I want my $1,000 back!! It goes without saying...no more BMWs for me!

I have a 2007 BMW 328xi with 11,000miles that is meticulously cared for. The tires started making louder noise even around town, I had them evaluated by my local BMW dealer (where I purchased the car) and they have yet to get back to me eventhough they acknowleged excessive cupping on all tires.I agree, that this totally unacceptable given the price of the car and its reputation! Thanks for any help that any one can provide as I'm looking at a replacement set of tires in the near future on my dime!

I have a 2005 BMW 325i with 56.6K miles on it. I got it at 30K and thought the tires were original. Now at 56 K I noticed road noise and yesterday I took it in to the dealer. I have the Continental run flats. I thought BMW would supply a tire that got good mileage, but the service advisor said the tires are good for 30 to 35K. He said the "feathering" was a "condition" and not really a flaw. Well, I expect better mileage on tires for a top of the line vehicle.
I have never had trouble with Michelins on any car, and I think I will look for a Michelin high performance tire that gets better mileage than 30K. To me a 30K tire is like a cheap Royal or Dunlop you get when you can't afford more than 30 bucks a tire.

Just entered the world of BMW having been a Benz’er for years . 530XI wagon with Sport Package 18 inch Run Flats . This ride is HARD. Wondering if I changed from Run Flats to normal tires if it would greatly improve the ride ?

I also have an 06 330 xi with the 17 inch run flat all weather tires. Our problem is not tire noise nor excessive wear (24,000 miles so far) but a tooth jarring shudder when we go over certain types of road imperfections such as a raised area between two sections of a concrete highway.
We have the Continental tires not Bridgestones. The dealership claims that nothing can be done about this. Does anyone out there have the same problem? Has anyone achieved a good solution that doesn't involve changing to non RFT's and finding a space for a spare?
Incidentally, I also have an 08 (and had an 06, same model) Z4 with the sport pkg and 18 inch performance run flats and have had NO problems with them.

Hi i am tomcruise, lot of different forums online and it seems it is effecting several different brands of vehicles mostly luxury cars like Nissans and Acuras. I know several of the Nissan guys all thought they had an individual problem with their cars until everyone started talking on the net and Nissan confirmed a problem. ====================================== tomcruise

I have a 2006 325i & just returned from having 4 new tires put on my car. It started to grab every uneven spot in the road and I called the dealership & was told to take it to a service center and have them rotate the tires and notate any problems. My appointment was 2 weeks later and I was told that nothing was wrong with the steering but I needed new tires. Nothing was said about run-flats until I took my car around town today to get bids for new tires. That's when I found out....not from the BMW dealership but from Discount Tires! I was furious and I spent hours on the phone and online trying to find a new set under $1,000.00. By the time I decided to give it up, I called the dealership only to be told that they can do nothing because their hands are tied with BMW of North America making the decision to use these worthless tires. I was driving on the freeway to work yesterday and my tires followed a rut in the road and literally threw my car into the left lane. Luckily no one was there, but had there been another car, I would have slammed into it. I would have been cited for improper lane change or worse yet, had an accident! From my point of view, this is a safety hazard. I replaced my run-flats with regular tires and when I drove my car,it drove like a BMW should drive. Maybe it's time to ban together........Call your friend at 60 Minutes. I'm ready!

HI there I have a 2003 z4. I have had the car for 4years and have gone through 8 tires all with punctures. I have been battling this with BMW and Bridgestone for the years. Both blame each other...

i have 2007 330 convertible sport with 19" wheels. After 12000 miles got rear puncture. Tyre company informed me rims were cracked causing deflation, also tyres scrubbed off to wire on inside 20mm. So new tyres and wheels at £1200. BMW informed me everthing was OK and not covered on warranty and that i must have run over a pot hole. Ha ha. These set of tyres scrubbed off in 6000 miles on inside again. New tyres at £600, BMW say nothing wrong with suspension, tracking, etc. Yesterday, after another 6000 miles, another puncture on motorway. Go to ATS for repair. They find both rear rims cracked and tyres scrubbed to wire on inside! Call out BMW (200 miles from home) and car goes to local garage. Guess what, they say damage caused by impact and hence not covered by warranty. Another £1200 down the drain. So so far done 26000 miles, on third set of rear wheels, forth set of tyres and £3000 out of pocket. Nothing wrong with the BMW though, its the bumpy roads. Seems to me sports suspension, run flat tyres, 19" wheel combination does not work and BMW have not got the balls to own up. I welcome the day when the car is 3 years old and I can get rid and have anything but a BMW.
