Hi, Originally I was sold on the run-flat idea, but after I read this article http://www.tire-information-world.com/run-flat-tires.html I sat on the fence and I'm glad I did. There seems to be more and more bad stories emerging out there. I think it all comes down to there being a lack of training in servicing the tires.

I too have had problems with my run flats..have had my 2004 330xi for almost 4 years but every time my alert light comes on I take it to the dealer...they obviously put air in the tires and send me on my merry way.  YESTERDAY when I took car in AGAIN the tech told me that I have been driving on these tires FLAT and now the inside rubber is too soft and tires will no longer hold the air pressure....HOW IS THIS MY FAULT when I take car in immediately after the light comes on....please put me on the list for the class action suit..BMW needs to replace these tires with REAL tires and give back the kickback from the tire manufacturers for selling BAD tires!!!  that are only costly to the consumer but are obviously not safe as they are advertised to be!!!!

I have an 07 328xi, noticed the road noise at about 5K. At 15K (first service), I reported the road noise to the Dealer. They changed the tires to Continental run flat at no charge. The road noise has diminished, I guess I'll wait a few thousand miles to see what happens.
Since there is no spare, I seem to have no choice but to stay with the noisy run flats. Any lawyers out there looking to start a class action?

I posted back in April with the tire noise issues saying that my dealer told me I'd have to cover 50% of the cost of replacement of the tires since I was over 10k miles.  They actually ended up replacing all 4 tires at no cost.  Now I'm at 30k miles (a little over 10k on the tires) and am experiencing the same the problem again because they replaced with the exact same Bridgestones! My service advisor said BMW may not cover the cost again since I've already had them replaced once. Has anyone had their tires replaced twice and had their costs covered?

i bought an '06 325i BMW back in April of 07. The car had less than 10k miles on it and i am currently at 25k. Like many of you i've been seeing the service light come on and naturally i take it to the dealer. I bought the extented warrenty thinking this was the smart move. Now the dealer is telling me that i need new tires and an alignment really bad. The tires have steel belts showing on the outsides of all 4 tires. 25k miles on $1500 tires? I spoke with the bmw service department and they gave me the whole run around making me belive that the excessive tire wear is my fault. I drive on the same freeways as everyone else and its not like im taking my 325i off roading. I hope we can all get this class action suit going soon because this is some serious BS!

I purchased an 06 BMW 325I last march. This was the forth 3 series that i've owned. I am so disappointed with this car ! Same reason, run flat tires ! Cupping ! I just replaced 2 tires, and the roar that was left behind from the remaining 2 tires is horrible.  I feel like I'm driving a
log wagon. Ultimate Driving Machine ?  What has happened to BMW standands ?
I've been told the same things many of you have stated. Are we all just
stuck with cars that ride like they are pieces of junk ?

I'm so glad to find this forum.  I've had my 2004 MBW Z4 with performance package since it was new and in the last 9 months I've had 5 flats.  My dealer says it must be my fault or bad luck, and nobody else has any problem with the run-flats. Crazy; I never had flats in my previous cars, don't drive to crime scenes or construction sites etc.   I love everything else about the car but I am seriously going to get rid of it if this terrible situation can't be solved.  What's this about a class action suit?  I'll certainly join it.

Hello folks, I've had the same dang problems everyone has mentioned here.  My third set with car, 325i 4d sedan in 29K miles.  They're suggesting I go to the Cont. Run Flats vs. Bridgestones.....!

I have had BMW offer 50%.... for tire replacement 250.00 for new set.  However, then they want  another 200 dollars for alignemnt.... which is all part of there crap to get you to pay for the full cost of the tires.

I feel BMW has really screwed it's customers here..... they should offer the run flats as an option and then if tyou select the run flats inform you that you do not need a spare and that you now have extra trunk space.

Instead of no space for a spare if you elect to have the standard air inflated tires....!  It's such a scam, and I do not say that lightly... this is my second BMW and It Will be my LAST!

I have a 2006 BMW 330i, sport suspension, low profile, run flat tires.  I recently noticed my car pulling ever so slightly to the right.  I took it to the dealer to check the alignment.  They called me and told me that it was out of alignment and that the two front tires were shot.  They stated that since the alignment was off the outside edges of the tires have worn down below what is required to pass inspection.  The rear tires are wearing evenly.  I have two questions to pose.  Number one, is there any possibility that this alignment and wear issue is a car defect?  Meaning that it should be covered by BMW.  And number two, if it is something I have to pay to fix, should I just go buy regular low profile tires and ditch the whole run flat idea.

I hate how the car feels on the road.  I can feel everything and the seems on the highway jerk the wheel from my hands.  Will eliminating the run flat component of the tire help these issues?

Please help!  Thank you.

I just spoke to my service advisor (again for the millionth time) and he said that my tires were not wearing like in the bulletin about noise due to abnormal tire wear.  He states that they are jus "worn out" due to alignment issues.  He told me that legally he couldn't recommend anything to me besides replacing with same tires it came with.  He did say that he does not like run flat tires and runs PS2 (porsche) tires on his car.  He also said that if I wanted to get a spare to match the front tires.  And... that it was not neccessary to replace the rear tires since they are not worn out.  He said that as long as the tires on the same axle match I wouldn't have any problems.  Is there anyone who has a different opinion on these topics or is he telling the truth?

I have a 06 BMW 330i and it started making that noise about 6 months into my lease at approx. 12,000 miles. I took to the dealer they said that the tires were coupled. Not to mention, I had already replaced 3 seperate run flat tires for whatever reason they gave me. They told me it would cost $2200 to replace the tires and the additional warranty that I paid for with my lease would not cover the cost. I asked if they could guarantee that my new $2200 tires stop the car from making that noise and of course they said, "No". Since then I have replaced the tires twice with aftermarket tires. The problem comes back just as fast as it goes away. I have suffered for almost 3 years with this noise and it drives me more crazy everytime i make a payment.

If you call BMW North America 800-831-1117 and get Karen, ask to speak with someone else as she will not help you with your problems. Also, if you replace your runflat tires than they will not warranty anything.

I have a 2006 330i and just replaced 4 run flat tires today (22000 miles) for the past year the noise these tire made was unbearable. They are now bald and needed to be replaced. Talk about inferior parts and on a 40k automobile. Shame on you BMW. I will never buy another BMW again this is only a small example of the type of service and quality of their product

OMG! I also have a 330i 06' with exactly the same noise. Same exact time when I started hearing the grinding, squeaking or what ever it is. I've also replaced tires twice. I have taken my car in 10 times for the same reason and been left up in the air. Like you say, the noise really drives me insane. They will not guarantee any of us that once tires do get replaced noise will disappear. Never will I lease another BMW.I do feel a little better knowing I'm not alone. Good luck to all of us!
