Looks like the never forgotten Toyota Supra is coming back wearing #45. Well, maybe not the 45 part, but word has it that the Supra is definitely going to be a heavy contender to the Ford GT and Ferrari F430 crowds. It boils down to this: V10, 500 horses, 5.0 liter with 9,000 RPM redline with a stick going to 7 speeds. And let's not forget the poundage...weighing in at just under 3,000 lbs. Yikes, I can't wait to see this puppy in action.

I think the Supra is supposed to be the upcoming $30,000 Lexus IS-based V6 sports car (like the 350Z), which would make sense. The 500-horsepower mid-engined V10 car is something else entirely.

Yah, from the posting, it sounds like they're more talking about the Formula Supra. But that would be sweet rolling around with 500 hp under the hood. Reminds me when I use to go to the "races" in high school.

I talked to a Toyota rep not long ago. "No Supra is planned."

This is what i was told by the toyota rep. on 12/16/2005
Thank you for contacting Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. We appreciate your interest in the 2007 Supra. We apologize; we do not currently have any announced plans to introduce the 2007 Supra. We are, however, aware of consumer interest in this type of vehicle.

Perhaps Toyota is going for that whole element of surprise bit. If I recall correctly, a few years back representatives at Dodge were refusing to affirm the plans on building a new version of the Charger.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the supra will not be coming with a V10 and 500 horses. It will be available with a 5.0 liter V8 pushing 450 ponies and a 3.5 liter V6 giving us 350. The V6 will be based off the Lexus IS350 and GS350 drivetrain. So, as much as I like the idea of a road legal Toyota supercar, it will not be competing with the Ford GT and Ferrari F430.

There's going to be a Supra? Haven't heard anything official. What's your source, jagershot?

Hey guys read this article of the 2008. It suprised me. LOL
2008 Toyota Supra On Sale : Unconfirmed These photos were Japanese interpretations of the next-gen Supra. Toyota is currently testing a supercar in the $100,000 range. Technology from this car may pass down to a future Supra, which may receive anything from a boosted V6 to a V8, or even a hybrid in its top form. Toyota has no comment, but the Supra nameplate will be back.

Engineers from Toyota Motor Co.p. visited Germany's famed Nurburgring racetrack last month to test a prototype sports car shrouded in mystery. Spy shots of the session have provoked widespread speculation on the identity of the vehicle and Toyota's production plans. Among the outrageous guesses are that the prototype is a mule hiding either a 500-horsepower V-10 engine or a high-performance hybrid powertrain. Sources in Japan say it?s likely an early test bed for the next Supra, pulled from the U.S. market several years ago because of poor sales. Toyota insiders say the reincarnated Supra should reach the market in 2006 as a 2007 model. The rear-wheel drive coupe, being targeted at the Nissan 350Z, will be powered by a twin-cam 3.5-liter V-6 and priced from well under $30,000.
