I have been driving a 1987 Honda Civic Wagovan 1.5L Carbonated 5 speed manual transmission. It has 285,000 miles on it. I was given it as a present a few years ago. It cost about 500 dollars. As of last week it lost the 5th gear and I cant justify having it fixed. It served me well and had only a few problems (new breaks, muffler, alternator) the 3 years I had it. Most of which were repaired for free by the guy that I was purchased from. Needless to say I would like to get a new car.
I have been looking around and started out with Honda’s. I was quoted 16,500 on a new 2007 Honda accord VP package with manual transmission. After taxes and all it was under 18K. I don’t have a problem spending the money but how much of what I am paying is for the name? I was looking at www.edmunds.com and www.kbb.com and although Honda’s a rated good so are a bunch of other cars for thousands less. I was looking at a Kia Rio for around 10k. The dealer near my house has a 10 year 250,000 mile warranty along with all the other warranties and such. I really don’t know what I should get. I think a new car is a good choice as you don’t have to worry about what happened to it before you got it. I looked at used cars like 2006 and 2005 but there was little to no difference in the price. I want a reliable car that will last. If something does happen I want it be inexpensive to fix. But a warrantee is not a guarantee; I could be having it fixed every week.
As far as the car goes I just want it to me manual and have air condition.
