2000 F250, plenty of power, good surge when needed. 58,500 All power. Long bed
#1 What I'd like to do is bump the gas mileage about 2 miles per gallon when hauling a 9.5 foot Lance camper. It seems to be getting 12mpg at best--highway. Am I expecting too much? Well maintained and serviced. Any suggestions?
#2 Shifts into 4-wheel low and high just fine, but front wheels no pull. One mechanic told me vacuum seals in front wheel. Also I am very uninformed about when to lock the front hubs. I have Auto and Off settings you arrive at by turning the controller on the wheel. Any help appreciated.

You want better gas mileage when hauling a big square box?? good luck.You are pushing a lot of wind.
You are turning your 4 wheel drive setting on and off but are you sure its engaged? Another thing you should know is that when you use 4 wheel drive all 4 wheels should be matched up meaning all the tires should be the same,,and also all the air pressures should be the same. It's not having these two things that eventually break them.
