the new lexus that parallel parks itself... cruise control... its only a matter of time before cars will not require a driver at all. as someone who loves to drive for enjoyment, im not really that fond of the idea. then again, it could be great.. less stress getting to work, children always have rides, no need to drive drunk, more time for other things. just wanted to know how all of you feel about this concept.  

Unfortunately, a number of situations have confronted the automotive industry and have effectively transformed the ethos at some of the most prestigious automotive companies.  Audi's are getting bigger and bigger.  It seems BMW and Mercedes-Benz, especially with concern to the new S-Class, now cater to "bling" rather than to function.  Modern Range Rover's are unreliable and unpractical machines built to impress, not to tackle the back road.  And now this.  Cars that drive themselves.  If this doesn't open up images of artificial intelligence taking over lazy human beings I don't know what will.  Now, I am not completely in opposition to this technology...if it works.  Lexus, once the last bastion of practical and functional engineering built into a luxurious package has now also succumbed to this barrage of, frankly, lame marketing.  If you shall forgive me sirs at Lexus, but your gimmick, and that's precisely what it is, of declaring that the LS 460 can park itself is in my view not altogether "unprecedented."  The following link only solidifies my stance: http://www.automobilemag.com/multimedia/video/0610_lexus_ls460_auto_park/
