i just now bought sony explode 6.5 inch  speakers(4 channel or w/e yah call it) and i installed them to my 1997 chevy 1500 silverado 4 wheel drive and when the speakers are loud and it hits a hard bass note the speakers sound all distorted. i have a pioneer 35x 4 radio. i like playin the loud music but i dont like it all distorted when it starts to get loud. i know the speakers are fine. and installed correctly.. i dont know what to do. what would solve my problem??? (im definatly not an audio expert by the way)

speakers have
220 Watts peak power
45 Watts rated power
4 Ohms impedance

all i know that the radio has

35 x 4 (watts... or w/e the 35 x 4 means..)

is it possible that my radio is just not supporting enough power to my speakers??? will an amp fix this? if so... should i get a 2 channel amp or 4 channel amp (may get a subwoofer later and only planning on putting the amp on the front speakers and sub)

Your're either running out of power(deficient deck) or sending too low of frequencies to the speakers.  6.5's shouldn't get lower than 300-500 hz, try to adjust the low pass filter if your deck has one, or get a 4 channel amp that puts out around 60 watts rms @ 4 ohms.  Kickers are decent quality and pretty cheap on ebay.
