I am hearing and feeling an exhaust leak at the connection from my exhaust manifold and the upper end of the tailpipe on my 1988 wrangler with the 4.2(258) six motor. I have been told that this model does not have a donut gasket there and I have also been told that it does.  I am pretty sure the manifold is not cracked.  I just don't want to go through the trouble of trying to break the nuts loose if something else is going on.

Does anyone know for sure on the donut gasket?
